Banyan Roots invites farmers interested in learning about and practicing traditional low-cost natural farming in keeping with Banyan Roots guidelines. We also encourage farmers associated with us to form farmers’ groups, where they can share their knowledge and best practices, and also seek the community’s support to address any challenges.

Banyan Roots is associated with several NGOs who share our passion and commitment to preserving and promoting traditional low-cost natural farming techniques and indigenous crops and seeds. We also collaborate with institutions invested in safeguarding the interests of farmers and the country’s rural populations.

OFAI

The Organic Farming Association of India (OFAI) promotes organic farming, lobbies with government agencies and departments to pay more attention to sustainable agriculture, and assists farmers using chemicals and pesticides to convert successfully to organic farming methods. The organization was formed in 2002 and has since formulated several programmes to assist organic farmers with obtaining organic certification.

Slow Food Udaipur

Slow Food is a global, grassroots organization focused on preserving local food cultures and traditions. It aims to promote interest in people about the food they eat, where it comes from and how food choices affect the world around us. Today, Slow Food has grown into a global movement involving millions of people in over 160 countries. Banyan Roots is affiliated with the Udaipur arm of Slow Food.

AAHF

The Asian Agri-History Foundation (AAHF) facilitates dissemination of information on agricultural history to promote research on sustainable agriculture in the South and Southeast Asia region. AAHF also disseminates knowledge on use of herbs and plants in human and animal healthcare. AAHF’s Rajasthan chapter is based in Udaipur. Rohit Jain serves as an honorary public relations advisor for AAHF.

Shikshantar

Shikshantar is committed to creating spaces and processes where individual and communities can engage in dialogue to transform existing educational and developmental models, and re-imagine the practices of Swaraj. The organization is based in Udaipur, Rajasthan.

In keeping with our vision of promoting self-sufficiency in rural India, Banyan Roots works with government institutions dedicated to resolving the challenges faced by Indian farmers and the rural agrarian community. Through our affiliations with government institutions, we lobby for small but impactful measures that will fulfil our goals of preserving traditional low-cost natural farming, and indigenous seeds and crops, and empowering rural farmers so that they are no longer compelled to abandon agriculture in favour of more sustainable means of livelihood.

Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industries

Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industries (FICCI) is the largest and oldest apex business organisation in India. A non-government, not-for-profit organisation, FICCI articulates the views and concerns of India’s business and industry. From influencing policy to encouraging debate, engaging with policy makers and civil society, FICCI works in the Indian private and public corporate spheres and with multinational companies, reaching out to over 2,50,000 companies. FICCI’s Millennium Alliance identifies innovative solutions that address development challenges. It aims to facilitate financial contributions from the private and public sectors, and offer a range of support to innovators. Banyan Roots has won the Millennium Alliance Award as an innovative agricultural startup. Founder Rohit Jain was recognized for his work in facilitating market access for organic farmers.

UnLtd India

UnLtd India aims to address the lack of technical and financial resources faced by budding entrepreneurs and enables them to effect radical changes in the country. The organization focuses on early-stage social entrepreneurs, and handpicks those it believes have the potential to create a significant impact over their lifetimes. Through its Incubation Progam, UnLtd provides social entrepreneurs with opportunities to maximise their potential as leaders, accelerate the growth of their organisations and deliver high impact. Banyan Roots was selected by UnLtd for its Incubation Program.
